Days turn to weeks

Weeks to months

Months to years

All I see is a big Nigeria

The giant of Africa

Our mother land bound in freedom

With her kids in her bosom

I am free

I am Nigeria

Despite your strive for freedom

Your name has been mud soaked

Carried daily to clean

Via our actions and lifestyle of love

We'd stand in for Nigeria

Hold steadfast to our Faith

I am free

I am Nigeria

Regardless of what we've been through here

We'd comfort ourselves and make things clear

All is for a while here

On the wheels of hope we steer

Binding ourselves together without a spear

But with love, honesty and unity in there

I am free

I am Nigeria

I was given a cap

For it my head was taken in a grasp

At the sound of a clap

I hearken to your voice

But I had to fight for my freedom

And now I have it

I am free

I am Nigeria

In an unfree way I had to be free

Not to only cast off my chains

But to hold on to essential liberty

To protect my freedom

I am free

I am Nigeria

Some birds are not meant to be caged

Their feathers are too colorful

Their songs are so sweet when heard

But you hated their hunger for freedom

Now they are gone

Not because of hate but because of their quest for freedom

They took their liberty

I am free

I am Nigeria

Nothing was more difficult than this

The truth was for us to be set free

But it got them pissed

We were not going to be alone

All we needed was to be let alone

I am free

I am Nigeria

We gathered the sticks of determination

Took the bull by the horn

Smelted out of blood and sweat

To set the bushfires of freedom

Under the rain, under the shine

All we yearned was freedom

Here we are after decades

I am free

I am Nigeria

Freedom is priceless

It's an unaffordable asset

Against all odds and trials

Despite the clash and the oppositions

We disagreed to agree

And here we are.

I am free

I am Nigeria

Nigeria no more fret

Nigeria no more weeping

Nigeria no more blood shed

Nigeria no more violence

Nigeria no more pain

I am free

I am Nigeria
